There are many different ways that one can have a procedure called liposuction.
Lidocaine: Several liters of saline with a local anesthetic (lidocaine) and a vasopressor ( epinephrine ) are pumped under the skin in order to cause the blood vessels to contract. It is possible to drain some of the excess fat by using small suction tubes. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that is injected into the skin and causes blood vessels to contract. It is the most common type of liposuction.
Dry liposuction: There is no need to inject any type of numbing agent before removing the fat. It is an extremely old method that is used increasingly rarely. There is a greater risk of bruising and bleeding if the skin is numbed.
If you have a cannula that can be used to help remove fat, ultrasound will energize the instruments that are used to perform ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL). During the procedure, the fat in the fatty area is melted away by the high-pressure liquid that is applied to the cannula. It causes the fat cells to burst by vibrating the skin. This liquefies the fat, which makes it easier to remove by using a special tool called a vacuum. It can be used on areas that are hard to access, such as the abdomen and the back, or on areas that have undergone previous liposuction.
Ultrasonic liposuction is then followed by suction assisted liposuction to remove the liquefied fat.

LAL: LAL is also known as laser-assisted liposuction and involves using a fluid called tumescent fluid to help the surgeon to easily remove fatty tissue. It is less invasive and less painful than traditional liposuction. A tube is inserted through a small incision in the skin to deliver energy to kill the cells that are causing the fat to harden.
