Syringe aspiration rather than traditional liposuction is considered a less traumatising and safe technique for harvesting fat for grafting (or for small quantities of fat). It is not always possible to get large quantities of fat grafts using this method. It is still controversial as to the size of cannulas or syringes to be used for aspirating fat to harvest grafts.
